The climate emergency is recognised as one of the greatest threats to our planet. The UK government is participating in global efforts to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C and has set legislative targets for the UK – to reach Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

We at Ocado recognise and support the need for urgent action. We’re one of 16 members who have joined a steering group, working with the British Retail Consortium (BRC) to develop a ground-breaking decarbonisation plan, set out in the BRC Climate Roadmap below, to accelerate progress towards a Net Zero retail industry and supply chain by 2040.

The Climate Roadmap includes Scope 3 Emissions (all our indirect emissions, including those from customers and suppliers) and Net Zero target by 2040. 

As one of our suppliers, we would like to support you with your own journey to Net Zero. We are working with the BRC and other retailers to help provide that support, if you need it.

The underlying ethos of the BRC group is to:

1. Support other retail leaders in driving our industry forward to Net Zero, in line with the BRC Climate Roadmap.
2. Collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to overcome the barriers we collectively face on our journey to Net Zero.

Over the coming years we will communicate with you more frequently, to make sure that you have the support you need, so our end to end supply chains are involved in the movement to Net Zero.
